Tryazon hooked us up with some Rubik's Briks sets to try out. We've got kids ranging in age from 18 down to 4 so I was excited to receive sets for different ages.
The sets we received were the 3D Building Set, the Pixels 2x2 Wildlife Animal Set, the Pixels 1x1 Retro Game Set, and the 3x3 Puppy Puzzle.
The 3D Building Set is pretty cool. Think Legos, but has knobbies on multiple sides (instead of just the top) so you can build out in 3D. I was most excited for these, but my kids didn't stay excited long. The instructions provided are good, but it gets kind of complicated because there are different blocks that look very similar, but have different number of sides that are inverted (like the bottom of a Lego). They haven't tried incorporating these with their other legos yet so there are some other creative possibilities. All of my kids were interested in these but only the 14 year old had the patience to finish a build at the first try. The 12 year old eventually did one as well. The 8 year old hasn't finished any of the projects with this.
The 2x2 Wildlife Animal Set was great. The age rating on this one is 4+ so I turned my 4 year old loose on it first. He had fun playing with it, but one of his older siblings had to help him through finishing a project. If they showed him where to put the blocks, he was fine, but wouldn't' have been able to finish it on his own. The older kids had fun with this one too, both following the instructions for the projects provided and coming up with their own. There are a limited number of tiles of each color but if you are creative with colors there are lots of possibilities. This set was best for the widest range of ages.
The 1x1 Pixel Retro Game Set was Awesome. The age rating on this is 8+ so I let my 8 year old have the first crack. She wasn't very excited but my 6 year old was happy to trade her for the Puppy Puzzle. He did awesome with this set. He was able to complete one of the puzzles - counting out spaces and filling in blocks. I did jump in to help because there are a LOT of pieces in this set, but he could have completed it on his own. The older kids loved this one too. There are 3 different pattern/projects in this set and they liked trying the different ones, and creating their own. This one has even more colors and quantities so there is a lot you can do with this one. Overall, the family favorite.
The 3x3 Puppy set was the biggest disappointment. Each tile has 4 squares, and you find the square with the right pattern to work through the project. Doing the project itself wasn't too bad. My 8 year old was able to complete it on her own. The set is rated for ages 6+. I think my 6 year old may have been able to do it but it would have been challenging for him. The disappointment comes in because there is only one pattern for this set, and so once a child had done it, they weren't interested in doing it any more. I challenged my 14 year old to come up with other patterns and she did do one, but it wasn't as fun for her as the 1x1 pixels or even the 2x2 pixels.
Overall, these were a lot of fun and our kids liked them and were excited to show these to their friends.

Banyan's Bargains - September 2018 Truck
We finally cleared out enough space to get another truck! Woot Woot!
Product is new from Amazon. Pictures are stock photos.
Trying to keep pricing updated on here is a pain, so I'm thinking I'll just use this site to show what we are getting on this truck. I'll try to remove stuff as it sells out. Text 801-326-0393 for more info
